I can't believe I never made a proper blog post about this! Two years later, I realized I should have shared the story behind rebranding my art from Art by Noël Ill to Art by Noël Snow, so here it is.
Back in September 2022, I made the decision to transition my illustration work from Noël Ill to Noël Snow. Funny enough, just five months later, it actually snowed where I live in Southern California, which never happens! I hadn’t seen snow in years, at least not where I live. Usually, it’s only visible way up on the mountain outside my window, but that year, it snowed all the way down to the bottom. It felt like a little cosmic sign confirming the change was meant to be. A fresh start under a name that better reflects the whimsical, dreamy nature of my art.
I’ve always liked my real name, Noël Ill, but it definitely came with some challenges, mostly on the tech side of things. It was constantly being mistaken for I’ll or even the third, and I could never decide how to style it: iLL? ILL? Ill? 😅 Plus, the unintentional “sick” reference didn’t help either 🤒. After a lot of thought (and a few laughs), I knew it was time to make things easier for both myself and the computer.
Enter: Noël Snow
It just felt right. It kept the personal touch but added a magical, seasonal aesthetic that matched my illustration style so much better.
You’ll still find a good number of older illustrations watermarked with Noël Ill floating around online. I also illustrated a children’s book titled If You're Scary and You Know It under that name. And yep, many images have been pinned, reblogged, and shared! That’s totally fine, it’s all part of my creative history. But everything I’ve created from 2022 onward now lives under Noël Snow.
If you happen to visit noelill.com or noelillart.com, don’t worry, they should redirect you to noelsnow.com (at least one of them still does, last I checked!).
The transition was a lot of work! I spent about two months re-watermarking all my posted images and updating my products on Zazzle with the new name. It was a huge task, but one that was absolutely worth it.
Now everything feels nice and settled, and I’m excited to keep creating new work in the land of Noël Snow. ❄️✨
Thanks so much for supporting me through all the artistic evolutions! 💜
